Ski Shastina

We have enjoyed beautiful spring weather lately here in Siskitou County.  We took advantage of the mild weather to make a climb and ski descent on the third highest Cascade volcano; Shastina.

Shastina receives a fraction of the use and interest of it's next door neighbor, and is a great way to spend a day in the alpine.  We found excellent climbing conditions and kicked step all the way up the lightening bolt.  We clicked into our skis at the crater rim and enjoyed nearly 6,000' of smooth California spring snow.  We continued the ski below Hidden Valley into Cascade Gulch to make sure we maximized our vertical.  A great day with friends on Shasta's little sister.
