Deadfall Meadows and Lakes
This
is a beautiful 4 mile hike from wetlands at 6400 ft to subalpine lakes
at 7800 ft up the Western slope of Mount Eddy through a diversity of habitats
with opportunities for swimming to refresh ourselves in Deadfall Lakes.
Copeland’s Owl’s-clover, Gentians, Shrubby Cinquefoil, the
inflated colorful seedpods of the Siskiyou Milkvetch and several rare
plants adapted specifically to the serpentine bearing soils of Mount Eddy
are among the treasures awaiting us. For those requiring it, a longer
but less strenuous route from the Parks Creek Summit is available on this
trip upon request.
