A
2-mile day hike skirts the Eastern shore of Castle Lake and wanders among
subalpine meadows up to beautiful Heart Lake, perched above in granite
cliffs at 6000 ft. This trip offers panoramic views of Mount Shasta across
the valley, swimming in crystal cold lakes, and ample opportunities to
observe a host of native wildflowers including Shorthorn Steershead, Klamath
Fawn Lily, Beargrass and Purpleflower Honeysuckle.
