Mount
Shasta's historic base camp where wagons were left before ascending further
by horse or foot. At 6000 ft, a series of natural springs feed extensive
meadows with Larkspur, Spotted Mountain Bells, Crimson Columbine, Monkshood
and a host of other native flowers. A leisurely 1⁄2 mile stroll
through virgin stands of Shasta Red Fir between meadows also offers the
opportunity to observe some of Mount Shasta’s native woodland flower
species.
