Casaval Ridge One of Shasta's classic and most aesthetic lines, Casaval Ridge is visible from over 100 miles away and splits Shasta's south face. Dramatic rock gendarmes and exposed climbing make for an exciting ascent. This route is an early season climb best with plenty of snow. This climb is perfect for those who want a more technical and challenging route to the summit. Prior climbing experience and strong physical ability required.

Regarding Casaval Ridge:
Regarding Casaval Ridge: This route is one of the most technical and challenging that we guide. The route is graded a classs III, this means that there are areas of steep pitches (+45 degrees) and long stretches of exposed climbing. If you have prior experience and feel confidant with crampons and ice axe technique you will be well prepared. The other challenge is physical. This is the longest route on Shasta and typically requires 12-15 hours to climb and return to base camp. You should be in very good condition to attempt this climb. Please feel free to call or email to discuss this in greater detail. That said this is one of the most spectacular routes on the mountain!
