Denali Prep Course

Each season, several of our guides led successful trips to North America’s highest peak. If your goals include climbing in the great ranges of the planet, this course is for you. Let our experienced guides teach you the techniques of big mountain, expedition climbing. All the skills necessary to be safe and comfortable in the mountains will be covered to prepare you for the trip of a lifetime!

Considering a climb either June 18th thru 20th, expedition style or June 19th and 20th, alpine style. Could you tell me the approximate hiking distances you cover each day and elevation?

Hi Brent,

Nice to hear from you again.  I have emailed you the climb itinerary.  Yes, we will make a summit climb.  The route we climb will depend on conditions.  Early season (May) will probably be on the West Face or East side.  In June, we will climb one of the north side glacier routes.   We hope you can join us again on Shasta!  -Chris

Hello, I am an avid

Hello, I am an avid outdoorsman and consider myself a strong backpacker/hiker. I have average rock climbing skills. I want to get into mountaineering, and I want to be challenged. I also want to learn how to mountaineer well enough to go out on my own. Would this be the right course? Does this finish with a Shasta summit, or would I be able to summit by myself after the class? Thank you!

Hello Chance,

Thanks for your message.  This couse will give you the foundation to start climbing on your own.  We will discuss the planning and prep that goes into a mountaineering objective as well as covering the hard skills necessary to make the climb safely.  This seminar does include a summit climb as well.  The Glacier I Seminar is also a good consideration for what you are hoping to achieve.  We hope you can join us on Shasta.  -Chris
