Avalanche Awareness

     This is an introductory lecture that also serves as a great refresher for anyone with prior avalanche training. Topics covered include recognizing snow & weather factors that create avalanche conditions, identifying avalanche terrain, understanding avalanche warning signs, what to do if you are caught in an avalanche and how to perform an immediate avalanche rescue within your group. Avalanche Basics are a must for anyone planning to ski, snowmachine, snowshoe, snowboard or hike on the slopes or in the side canyons surrounding our area.

Presenter will be Eric White from the USDA Forest Sevice Mt. Shasta Avalanche Center.
